Copper Plating: Copper plating is often used as an undercoat for electroless nickel to help conceal imperfections in the base metal, as a barrier between zinc and nickel or to improve the cosmetics of the final nickel coating. Because of its propensity to tarnish, it is not generally used as a final coating.
