Overview of PEN-TUF®/EN

Our New Generation Composite Coatings combine the release properties and lubricity of polytetrafluroethylene (PTFE) with the corrosion resistance and uniform coating thickness of electroless nickel. In a co-deposition process, PTFE particles are evenly distributed and locked into the nickel phosphorus matrix. Fresh molecules of PTFE are consistently exposed to keep the surface lubricated throughout the life of the coating. A dry lubrication coating, PEN-TUF®/EN can be applied to stainless, aluminum and titanium as well as brass, copper and steel.

PEN-TUF®/EN meets a wide range of engineering specifications and greatly improves overall performance, especially in applications that involve high speed/low load or slow speed/moderate load combinations. PEN-TUF®/EN also reduces wear, prevents sticking and galling, and provides excellent release properties in adhesive and paint applications.

  • Typical coating thickness of 0.0001" - 0.0003".
  • PTFE content is generally 25% by volume of the composite coating.
  • Typical deposits have a smooth surface finish of 0.1 micrometers RMS or   better.
  • The coefficient of friction for PEN-TUF®/EN against itself or electroless nickel   is reduced to 0.2 compared to the 0.6 coefficient of friction for regular   electroless nickel.
  • As plated hardness is 34 - 38 Rc with an increase to the low-mid 40's after   heat treat.
  • Will withstand temperatures to 618 degrees F.
  • Can be coupled with other New Generation Coatings to enhance corrosion   resistance and wear features.

EN/PEN-TUF® INFUSED

EN/Pen-Tuf® Infused is a process where "as plated" electroless nickel is micro cracked at high temperature (550-700F) and polytetrafluroethylene (PTFE) is infused into those cracks. A typical coating thickness can range from .0003" to .002" or more. Pen-Tuf®Infused gives outstanding release properties and has proven to be very beneficial in various molding applications. Pen-Tuf® Infused is not suitable for heat sensitive substrates.

Features of PEN-TUF®/EN and PEN-TUF® INFUSED
